The Steelers an improved team but some way to go: From a Premier Sport angle

Contributor Roland Hurt returns with another blog post, this written after last night's game against Cardiff.

After watching last night game against the Devils on Premier Sport I thought that the team looked a much more improved team than previous weeks, but maybe that can  be put down to the return of Robert Dowd, Jeff Legue & Dustin Kohn were back in the line-up giving us as full strength squad for the game.
The first period for me promising with Doyle doing an outstanding job in net during the first PK, but then unfortunately a second PK then caught the Steelers napping and a 2nd goal not long later had me thinking oh no, it looks like I’ll be having a bit of a rant in the morning. Then a great PP effort created goal from Baldwin closely followed by a goal from Dowd had me thinking this game has got a potential Steelers win written all over it, then Mac Faulkner’s goal near the end of the 1st Period had me doubting again.
In the 2nd Period the Steelers seemed a lot more energized and ready to go with the good old Steelers fighting spirit. 2 unanswered goals from Phillips & Fata had me back believing that a Steelers victory might be on the cards.
A gritty 3rd Period with plenty of chances from both sides but a stand out Period for Doyle between the pipes managed to see the Steelers to a close but well deserved victory that was way closer than what the score line made it look like.
All in all I thought that the Steelers did themselves proud in front of the TV Cameras and managed to find the grit & determination that has been lacking a lot this season and managed not to just fold when going 2-0 down early in the 1st.
Now all we need is for the team to not over do the Christmas break and continue where they left off on Boxing Day and get a 2nd victory on the bounce then get that all important win at the NIC next Saturday in front of the Premier Sport Cameras again and take a 6 Point Christmas into the New Year.
