Game Preview: @Dundee (CC 1/4 Final 2nd Leg, 19/1/14)

Before we start, I want to say thank you to both the Steelers fans who did themselves proud with the response to the Stand Up For Randy situation last night, and the Belfast fans who joined in, didn't celebrate their goal until after the minute had passed and were generally just classy throughout. Top showing, and proof that hockey fans are pretty good eggs really.

Unfortunately, the team didn't show up for 40 minutes last night, and the game was gone by the time we got into it. I think maybe we played the occasion rather than the game, understandably. Having said that, Belfast are the best team in the league this season by a considerable distance - and the "if we had a full bench" line doesn't hold because we did have a full bench last night, and we were comprehensively beaten.

So adopt, adapt and improve. We're in a quarter final everyone.

Dundee
The Stars had been on a very good run of form, but have hit a blip this week, going down 4-0 in the first leg at the Motorpoint, then falling 4-2 to the Stingrays in the Most Versatile Venue last night. Add the long journey from Humberside to Tayside that they will have had to undertaken, then we can't use the travelling excuse tonight because they've had the same journey.

The guy who seemingly records the Audioboo interviews for the Steelers said last night to expect the return of Max Lacroix tonight as one of the players who played last night is carrying a knock. No word on who, so I guess we find out at warmup.

Prediction
We have the lovely predicament tonight of not having to win. Hopefully, the players don't think that because we'll be in for a drubbing if they do. Dundee are a very good team, Jeff Hutchins has got them performing very well, and their rink is a tough place to go. A win would be nice - a solid performance would be better.

Dundee 3-2 Sheffield

Feel free to argue the toss with us at the usual places.
