5 Things We Learnt This Weekend - 21/22nd Feb 2015

Thank you to Tony for his contribution to FSB, All Credit for this piece goes to him so any queries you can contact Tony on Twitter @DISGU15ED

So what five hockey things did we learn this week?

1> Roy and Mosienko - if we could roll those two every line then we'd have wrapped the league up by Xmas. Get Mosi's granddad to snipe them home every game and we'd even win it with Yak at the back.

2> It's looking like the 12th EIHL league season will produce its fifth different champion - The Clan look likely to join the Blaze (4) Steelers (3) Giants (3) and Panthers (1) at the top table. Whatever your views on the conference, that's a massive improvement from 5th in the last few seasons.

3> you can prove anything with statistics - "@Sethb45: Line 1 71 goals, line 2 59 goals so there isn't a massive difference". Except that most of those second line goals came from Fretter playing first line with Forney and Roy ;)

4> How we could do with Jody Lehman right now - Frank and Unice out injured, House in injured, Yak on fire at the testimonial, but we all wish Jody's plane had been delayed a few days. House got the plaudits and is a decent back-up but got rattled.

5> Hockey fans are awesome v2 - in a crowd of over 10,000 in Cologne, we met and chatted to fans from Cardiff, Guilford and Bracknell - and one or two Haie fans too! Hockey is an international language.

On final thought - if the nine other EIHL teams looked outside of their own players when selecting their head coaches, would the turnaround we seem to be seeing at the Blaze (7-2-1 in their last ten) be more widespread?
