Challenge Cup Semi-Final 1st Leg and it started out extremely fast paced and both team look like they wanted it but  the game started off with a bad injury to Josh Unice as Doucet was hit by Phillips onto Unice but the Steelers netminder was able to play on. It was the visitors that took the lead at 14:54 when Rod Sarich was caught flat footed Evan Mosey skated on past and his shot eventually went in off the stick off Sarich for 1-0 lead. It would soon be 2-0 when O’Connor turned the puck over in the Nottingham zone and the visitors broke 3v1 when Lachowicz laid of Chris Lawrence who fired his one timer high past Josh Unice at 16:47 and at the end of the 1st period Nottingham led 2-0.
End of the 1st Period: Sheffield Steelers 0–2 Nottingham Panthers
Shots on Goal: Steelers 11-8 Panthers

Into the second period and Steelers pulled a goal back at 21:51 when Roy linked up with Forney and Petruska they forced several good saves from Kowalski before Roy tapped in at close range on the door step to pull them within one. It didn’t take long for Nottingham to extend their two goal lead when at 23:40 there was scrambling in front of Unice’s goal and I’m still not entirely sure how the puck made it in but it was 3-1 to Nottingham and that’s how it stayed going into the second intermission.
End of the 2nd Period: Sheffield Steelers 1–3 Nottingham Panthers
Shots on Goal: Steelers 16–11 Panthers

A goalless third period but unfortunately the Steelers lost Josh Unice to injury as he received a knee to the head from Rod Sarich as Sarich was trying to get out of the way, Eddy thought it was Schmidt and they both dropped the gloves and both eventually went for five minutes, Geoff Woolhouse went in between the pipes for the first time since September and he was solid but the forwards couldn’t do their job and Steelers go to the NIC trying to make a two goal lead up on Tuesday.
Shots on Goal: Steelers 10–10 Panthers
