Big Match Preview - Storm Double Header

Well Christmas didn't go plan after the back to back wins over the Blaze, did it? Those Bears from down the M1, came and really spoiled the party. The team are back behind the eight ball again and it feels like we had taken one step forward but those defeats are akin to two massive steps back as we chase down the Devils and Giants.

Tomorrow at the surprisingly early face off time of 3:00pm, not 4 as the radio adverts keep saying and some tickets also read, and New Year's Day the Steelers face another test of their capabilities when these guys are in opposition:

Yes it's this season surprise packet, the Storm from across them there Pennines. A completely different Storm to last season and one that is capable of turning you over. Don't believe us, just look what they have done in both Cardiff and Belfast these last few days. Yup they've gone on the road and won at the homes of the teams who stand one and two in the league rankings as we publish this said preview. Now do you start to feel a bit apprehensive?

Whilst Storm don't have the depth that will carry them onward to being this season's EIHL Champions, they possess one hell of a team ethic which is led by example by player-coach Omar Pacha. Yes Pach has got the Storm rumbling in the right direction, and if the season ended now: they are one team I would absolutely hate to face in the post-season play-offs. Continue the way they are, they could easily be this season's play-offs spoilers and that's a warning to all the big teams such as us, Clan, Panthers etc. Underestimate this Storm at your peril.

We need a home response and to erase the bad memory of Boxing Day when we were deservedly beaten on home ice in front of over 9,000 fans. How many are going to turn up for something which is definitely a "War Of The Roses"? The team need your backing to get back on course, and stop the three-peat dream becoming a distant memory. It's time to rebuild the wall and make things good again, and that means everyone buying in and two complete performances.

Predictions: Steelers to win 5-3 on home ice, 3-2 in overtime at Altrincham.
