The Smart Solutions Cardiff Devils can confirm the departure of Canadian Winger Chris Blight from the club.

Chris has been a valuable part of our Roster over the past two seasons and we would like to thank him for all of his hard work on and off the Ice.

An opportunity to move to the Sheffield Steelers has been presented to Chris that he has agreed to which will now see him playing under the Team GB coach Doug Christiansen.  Blight has made it no secret of his aspiration to represent Team GB and we are certain that the opportunity will assist in the further development of Chris’s Ice Hockey Career.

Not sure how much of that is Cardiff trying to own the story and put a positive PR spin on it from their side, rather than it looking like they have released a key player again, but it would appear that we have managed to land him - a fact the Steelers confirmed this morning.

Chris is a damn good player, and while I'd have had no issue with signing Tendler, I can't hide the fact that I'm somewhat chuffed about signing Blight.
