Weekend Preview - Panthers (a) Flyers (h)

So were
back from Scotland but were still on the road but only for one game of the weekend as we face the old enemy from just down the road as we visit the NIC to face Mattias Modig and the Nottingham Panthers on Saturday before were back in Sheffield on Sunday at Ice Sheffield to take on Todd Dutiaume and the Fife Flyers.

Sheffield were back to full strength for the first time this season as Robert Dowd and Pascal Morency returned to the line-up but Morency received a check from behind in Saturday’s game in Edinburgh and ended up not playing in Dundee on the Sunday! There has been no further updates on Pascal throughout the week so I really don’t know if he’ll feature this weekend but I think there’s a chance he’ll feature other than Pascal being the only doubt everyone else seems to be available as captain Jonathan Phillips prepares to make his 500th Steelers appearance and I also expect there to be no Luke Ferrara as Peterborough Phantoms also play on Saturday and Sunday! So a very near full strength team.

Nottingham Panthers
Saturday we travel to Nottingham to face the Panthers at the NIC so far versus Nottingham the Steelers are 1-1-0 losing to them 2-1 at the NIC in September before beating them at home 4-2. Nottingham are definitely without the injured Max Parent and Craig Kowalski but Mattias Modig will play in the place of Kwall, Cody Wild and Chris Higgins are expected to return but I suspect there a game time decision. Nathan Robinson as it stands is still a Nottingham player as he is on a two week rolling contract which is meant to end on Monday but he could leave at any time as there are several deals on the table for the Nottingham forward so we’ll know at warm ups tomorrow if any deals have gone through but I expect him to be playing this weekend.

Prediction: Panthers 2-3 Steelers

Fife Flyers
Sunday we return back from a 3 games road trip and take on the Fife Flyers at Ice Sheffield, so far versus Fife the Steelers are 2-0-0 beating them once on penalty shots 5-4 and then comfortably defeating them 8-1 at Ice Sheffield. Flyers have got a full roster available as far as I’m aware and no injuries going into the weekend.

Prediction: Steelers 5-1 Flyers
