I was actually at a game this weekend. Wonders will never cease...
Anyway, it was seemingly a good game to be at, as I was entertained throughout and we came away with two points from it, with yesterday's win in Kirkcaldy sealing the full 4 points for us.
But what did we learn?
1. Phil Hill exists!
In my previous viewings of him in orange, I did wonder if it was him or some imposter. Well on Saturday, he was there alright. Constant niggling, throwing the body about a bit - it was the Phil Hill I saw 5 years ago in Cardiff. Top work.
2. Robert Dowd has a new dimension
This season, the golden child seems to be playing more of a team game. He is capable of doing things himself and still does, but he also now knows to look up. He's committing to checks, and looks interested all over the ice, not just in the opponent's half. He's becoming a much more rounded player and in turn is becoming better for it. It's good to see.
3. Bouncebackability
Last weekend wasn't great, really. Big turn around this weekend though. We probably should have won by more on Saturday, and it was a good road win in a tough barn to visit on Sunday. It was a good reaction by the team and they're to be praised for it.
4. The early bird may get "Da Worm", but it doesn't necessarily get to keep it
Lots of stories going round today saying Jay Latulippe is going back to Sweden. If that's the case, good luck to him. It didn't really work for him in Sheffield, but he goes with the blog's best wishes.
5. I'd still have Robert Farmer back
Yeah, he likes a shove. We've got a few like that. He puts his body about. He's got a fair blast on him. He's still fairly young. I think he'd do a job for us, especially when some of the old guard decide to move on. I gave him some stick on Saturday but I still rate him.
