Weekend Preview 12/14 December 2014

The joy of having such a competitive league this season is that there are no real dud fixtures that you might consider swerving.

Consider everyone is beating everyone else at some point, you don't want to miss a game for fear of missing something exciting, or potential upsets. The same is true this weekend. Friday night sees us entertain the league's form team in the Cardiff Devils, while Sunday sees us make the trip to the Skydome to take on a Coventry Blaze outfit which could be rejuvenated with the promise of a new coach incoming.

Steelers Team News
We're still playing the waiting game with Danny Bois. He has skated in training this week but are still to receive the OK from the doctor to allow him to play. There's been no news on Dustin Kohn, so you'll know before I do (if you're at the game) whether he plays. Jason Hewitt remains sidelined, and we will have to do without Jay Latulippe, who has returned to Sweden.

Friday - vs Cardiff Devils (EC, EIHL)
Yep, Friday night is hockey night this week as we welcome the Cardiff Devils to the Motorpoint. We've had some feisty contests with the Welsh outfit this season, and I expect Friday to be no different. They are certainly the form team in the league at present, and come to Sheffield on the back of taking four points from the Belfast Giants last weekend.

Captain Tyson Marsh will be missing for the Devils, having been banned for one game by DoPS.

Coverage
Steelers TV will provide its usual top notch service for the price of £8. Failing that, as always I recommend you follow @TomWalkeden and @FrozenSteelMNL for updates throughout the clash.

Sunday - @ Coventry Blaze (EC, EIHL)
If you're going to Coventry on Sunday, make sure you dress smart and act appropriately, as it is the first time this season we will be featured by Premier Sports. It's not a bad game to cover really. Blaze are hurting, and will want to throw a spanner in the works of the top of the table Steelers. It has potential to be a decent game - let's hope so, I've swapped shifts so I can watch it.

Coventry will welcome blueliners James Griffin and Mark Smith back to the lineup after being missing for 7 and 5 games respectively. Fitness tests will be given to Ashley Tait, Mike Egener and Justin DaCosta. Derek Lee is the only confirmed absentee.

Coverage
As mentioned above, the game is live on Premier Sports. Failing that, we'll update you on who to follow for Twitter coverage closer to game time.
