A Wednesday night at Ice Sheffield and Steelers took a lead early on at 1:36 as Forney kicked the puck Hicks went to go wave it off but Petruska managed to get a touch on it to put it into the empty net as Hiadlovsky was in no man’s land and Steelers led 1-0 and it was a goal not many people noticed we scored as it was a very tamed celebration. That was followed by an unfortunate injury to Capitals player Sean Beattie after Darrell Hay laid a big on him against the boards Beattie hit the deck and was in a lot of play and was eventually stretchered off after a lengthy break and we was only 1:47 into the game. The injury to Beattie seemed to spur Caps on who went on to equalise at 3:20 when Steelers defence was nowhere to be seen and Dennis Rix skated through slotting the back hand through the legs of Unice. Sheffield didn’t let that put them down and they’d soon be ahead again at 4:53 when Robert Dowd fired a bullet of a shot from the right hand side that went in off the post to give the Steelers a 2-1 lead. Sheffield led 3-1 at 13:15 when Roy was able to pick up the puck and score a much tamed back hand that went in off Hiadlovsky and that’s how it stayed going into the first interval.
End of the 1st Period: Sheffield Steelers 3–1 Edinburgh
Capitals
Shots on Goal: Steelers 16-8 Capitals
Sheffield extended their lead at 23:18 when Jeff Legue was put through 1 on 1 with Hiadlovsky and he managed to lift his forehanded shot up and past Hiadlovsky for 4-1. Edinburgh would pull another goal back at 35:04 when Dennis Rix scored his second of the night firing a nicely taken slap shot in off the post but Steelers took a 4-2 lead into the break and were looking comfortable.
End of the 2nd Period: Sheffield Steelers 4–2 Edinburgh Capitals
Shots on Goal: Steelers 12–9 Capitals
Into the third period Mathieu Roy scored his second of the night at 49:41 when Cullen Eddy received the puck at the blue line and fired a big slap shot towards goal which Mathieu Roy nicely tipped past Hiadlovsky for his 71st point of the season. With Edinburgh on the powerplay they finished off the scoring at 53:24 when Jade Portwood was fed by Hartmann on the right hand side and Portwood nicely re-directed through the legs of Unice to bring them within 2 goals. It was a professional performance though and a win was a win for the Steelers next up is a trip to the NIC.
Shots on Goal: Steelers 13–5 Capitals
