Sunday 1st February 2015 – Edinburgh Capitals (12-20-4) v Sheffield Steelers (23-9-4) @ Murrayfield Ice Rink. Face-off: 6pm, Elite League

Edinburgh Capitals – 2
Rene Jarolin – 3rd
Greg Collins – 3rd

Sheffield Steelers – 3
Michael Forney – 1st PP
Robert Dowd – 1st
Gord Baldwin – OT

(I apologise for the poor and briefness of the match report, the camera position was really poor on the webcast and the cameraman himself was just so slow and poor at following the gameplay).
The Steelers took the lead at 13:10 when Mathieu Roy on the right hand side played a nice pass across goal to Michael Forney who finished nicely on the powerplay for his 32nd of the season to give the Steelers a 1-0 lead. Sheffield made it 2-0 at 19:11 when firing shots on goal Hiadlovsky who was impressive all night gave up a nasty rebound and Robert Dowd picked it up and slotted past him into the empty net and Steelers took a 2-0 lead into the break.
End of the 1st Period: Edinburgh Capitals 0–2 Sheffield Steelers
Shots on Goal: Capitals 5-13 Steelers

A goalless period but some great saves by both Josh Unice and Tomas Hiadlovsky but Steelers were also missing Colton Fretter who took a stick to the face in the 1st period and had to go to hospital for treatment. At the end of the 2nd period Steelers still led 2-0.
End of the 2nd Period: Edinburgh Capitals 0–2 Sheffield Steelers
Shots on Goal: Capitals 7–11 Steelers

Edinburgh pulled a goal back at 43:57 when Rene Jarolin broke Unice’s shutout when he was out in front and somehow got the puck past Unice and it was suddenly 2-1 to the visitors. Edinburgh levelled the game at 48:53 to make it 2-2 when again Caps were in front of goal this time it was Greg Collins who fired a soft shot and it somehow beat Unice through the 5 hole and the game was going to overtime.
End of the 3rd Period: Edinburgh Capitals 2-2 Sheffield Steelers
Shots on Goal: Capitals 7–10 Steelers

A well-earned point for both teams but Steelers took the extra point at 61:24 when Gord Baldwin scored the game winning goal when Petruska played the puck across the goal and Baldwin finished at the back door firing a snap shot past Hiadlovsky to win the game for the Steelers 3-2.
Shots on Goal: Capitals 0-2 Steelers
