Sheffield Steelers continued their title push with a 100% record in February scoring no fewer than seventy goals, Ken Priestlay getting eleven of those.

FEBRUARY 2000 (15 yrs)

Steelers will compete with London Knights for the signature of winger Andy Bezeau at the end of the season. The 'Pocket battleship' is top of coach Mike Blaisdell wish list after the player led his side to a comprehensive victory at the Sheffield Arena.

For eight years the name Ron Shudra was inextricably linked with Sheffield Steelers the unthinkable finally happened last summer when the defenceman was released, and he moved to Hull Thunder. But next week the Rocket is back at Sheffield Arena in a testimonial match to toast his Steelers career.

He was to return for the 2001-02 season for another stint at Sheffield.

It was still tight at the top and Steelers did their title aspirations no harm by beating eventual champions, Bracknell Bees, 8-5 at home.
Indeed they ended the month with a surge as they scored fifteen goals in beating difficult opposition.

Steelers’ signed a deal with The Sheffield Star whereby they were to be new title sponsors.

Steelers’ hope that Glaswegian coach Paul Heavey will have the same inspirational affect as Mike Blaisdell once had at the club.
Heavey had performed a similar heroics in Manchester and it was hoped he would at least help Sheffield in the play offs.

The challenge cup, which for only the third time in history didn’t see Nottingham or Sheffield in the final, came to a conclusion in February with Coventry defeating Cardiff.

Back in Steeler-land, the crossover league reached its conclusion for Sheffield with a rare 0-0 tie at home to Guildford of the BNL after overtime.

In the league Steelers won 3 big games losing out only to Coventry.
