4 games left in the Elite League season and the Steelers know if they win all their games they’ll be crowned champions. The game started it absolutely magnificent fashion for the Steelers when just 25 seconds in Cullen Eddy for the third game in a row opened the scoring for Sheffield and it was an exact replica of his previous two goals when Eddy got the puck just in front of the blue line and fired his shot low and hard through traffic past Brian Stewart who has been a thorn in the Steelers side all season. Steelers continued to dominate the 1st session and pretty much had complete dominance they was gifted with 3 power play but couldn’t make them count as the Blaze were massively out shot.
End of the 1st Period: Sheffield Steelers 1–0 Coventry
Blaze
Shots on Goal: Steelers 19-5 Blaze
Into the second period and Coventry came into the game a little more putting more shots on Josh Unice’s goal including and absolutely fantastic save when a Blaze forward skated behind the goal for the wrap around and Josh Unice had to go post to post to deny Coventry with a goal scoring opportunity. Steelers finally scored a second goal at 34:06 after strong pressure by the home side Ben O’Connor skated the whole width of the zone dragging the puck with him into space to fire a bomb over the glove of Stewart for 2-0 and that’s how it stayed going into the second interval.
End of the 2nd Period: Sheffield Steelers 2–0 Coventry Blaze
Shots on Goal: Steelers 11–9 Blaze
The first period was a period where the visitors did out shoot their hosts but it was down to their 5 on 3 power play they had for 1:54 but they was shut out as the Steelers took away their lanes where Hay, Kohn and Mosienko were just all outstanding and when Coventry did get a shot off Josh Unice stood strong and denied them the closest the visitors came was when former Steelers Jim Jorgenson fired a shot off the bottom of the post but Coventry just couldn’t find a way past Josh Unice. Blaze pulled Brian Stewart at 57:40 in an attempt to get back into the game but it failed to work as Sheffield failed to capitalize on the empty net but Sheffield went on to win the game 2-0 and remain top of the standing and in doing that helped Josh Unice record his 5th Shut-out in 16 games for the Steelers.
Shots on Goal: Steelers 5–10 Blaze
