As I like to be prepared, and also wanting to remind people about the Jonathan Phillips Testimonial game at ice Sheffield in just less than three weeks’ time (06-12-2016 19:30 – good tickets still available!) – I’ve been digging through recent announcements to see who’s been invited:

The top ten contain all kinds of Steelers legends:
The first line must have the most caps of any five players as Jono is accompanied by Jason Hewitt, Ron Shudra, Mark Thomas and Rod Sarich – there’s several in the 600+ club there and no doubt Robert @steelersstats can confirm the total.
Second line features probably the two most potent top goal scorers from recent Steelers history with Jeff Legue (another 500+ club member) and Joey Talbot – mix in a bit of sandpaper with Ryan Finnerty, plus Gerad Adams, and Steve Munn at the back end, and you’ve got another five players to welcome back. I think you’ll need a mortgage extension to buy any of those shirts in the auction!
The Third and fourth lines contains players who are still playing in the smaller teams or lower leagues, including David Clarke (don’t laugh), Danny Meyers (Guildford), Ash Tait (Coventry), Warren Tait & Phil Hill (Telford maybe), so they’ll still be ready to go – mix in recently retired Doug Sheppard, and Paul Sample then we’ve got 17 announced outskaters.
In net we’ve got two of our favourites with Geoff Woolhouse and last but not least Andy "Yak" Jaszczyk.
It’s our chance to say thank you for the efforts, and not to mention the four championships that Jono has helped bring home. Given the chance to select a game-worn in the raffle a few years back, I chose Phillips. There are more championships, caps, points and goals than you can shake a stick at – so if you haven’t already got tickets then get your skates on and I’ll see you there.
Looking forward to R-Y-A-N = STTTEEEEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEE, followed by a bit of Danny, Danny Danny, Danny Danny, Danny, Danny Meyers and moaning along with Ash Tait (Bah Humbug :p)
Great to welcome back the proper #17 and #44 back into the building, give G some respect as we didn't get to say goodbye, and look forward to see who get's the better of the #26 v #27, speed v guile, youth v experience!
Real-world brothers, fathers and sons, brothers-in-arms, and a Panther too, just don't let Yak at the free bar too early!
Who is your favourite?
Cheers,
Tony.
