Big Match Preview - Steelers On The Road

With three wins in their last three games, scoring an amazing 19 goals in the process, Steelers go into the weekend with confidence. Both the games are on the road this weekend, and from one end of the country to the other. Can the team continue the excellent run and keep those dreams alive?

Saturday night and it's a return down the road, and an encounter with this lot:

Yep, it's a trip to Lace City to face our nearest and dearest - a team that is more than capable to upset us and set us back a few steps. They are slowly getting bodies back towards full strength and can never ever be discounted. Only defenceman Jeff Dimmen and former NHLer Jason Williams are on the sidelines; well in their most recent game they were missing; otherwise they have a lot of key players available including GB internationalist David Clarke who always seems to love playing us and is extremely dangerous on special teams. We need to turn in a performance that never stops and takes the ice from the Bears: leaving their supporters to "turn" on them. A win here could really boost the confidence levels.

Going into Sunday, it's a long bus ride to play this team:

An absolute away banana skin if there ever was one. It's got the makings of a giant killing if you want to use a football comparison and with justifiable reason. We're challenging for a title, Capitals are propping up the Elite League yet stand six points adrift of eighth placed Coventry but with three games in hand. They also have players that can do damage. Travis Fullerton is a netminder who is capable of giving Caps a chance to win everything when he's on it, offensive defencemen Jacob Johnston and Mike D'Orazio; and forwards Pavel Vorobyev, "Gino" Fyodorov and former NHLer Jared Staal (yes he of the famous Staal NHL clan) - game winners. It won't be easy one little bit. We've had a few problems there already this season, Sunday conceivably looks as tough as you can get.

Can we win both? Of course, we have the firepower and new signing Geoff Walker seems to have found some instant chemistry with John Armstrong and Guillaume Desbiens. Mike Ratchuk missed the Fife win on Wednesday through an unspecified injury so we are unaware if he will be able to ice this weekend. If he does, Thommo will have to drop someone. But we'll leave this to you Paul.

Predictions? Well after getting the Fife game nailed perfectly, shame I didn't put any money on it, I'm going for the following: 3-2 (could go either way and beyond regulation too) and for us to win 4-2 in Ice Station Murrayfield. How about you?
