Welcome once more dear readers for the preview of the next Steelers match.
After suffering a loss from Saturday's Elite League in Ice Arena Wales, the Steelers bounced back with another 8-2 win over Omar Pacha and his Dundee Stars. That makes it 0/23 and counting for the French-Canadian in terms of playing and coaching against the Steelers. Not the greatest records you want to own, but Omar you got it.
Our next opposition is on Saturday night, back in the Arena, and once more it's the only game of the weekend for us. We entertain these guys:
Welcome home again Ryan Finnerty! It's our final group game of that much maligned Challenge Cup which just seems to pad out and pad out longer it should. Steelers have already qualified, we made sure of that the other Friday in Braehead didn't we? Storm have nothing to play for in it at all, as they have just two points from their four qualifying games so far and they are unable to get one of the two best placed third spots unless mathematics helps them out somehow. However, we can possibly surmise that they will want to upset us on our own ice. It is a War Of The Roses still, regardless of competition right?
Like at Braehead, we would not be surprised if there is increased ice time for the youngsters on Saturday night. What would also not surprise us if Brad Day gets more ice time, maybe as a starter like he did so well in Braehead or maybe Moose plays about half a game and then Brad plays the other. Either would keep Moose fresh ahead of the Continental Cup journey to Denmark the following weekend. But then again are we Paul Thompson or Jerry Andersson? Quite simply, it's like er no.
It's the final game in Colton Fretter's suspension, that's flown by quickly hasn't it? We wouldn't be shocked if Mathieu Roy bags one or two Saturday evening, he's due a scoring streak for sure. My prediction? Storm to grab this on 3-2 maybe beyond 60 minutes, it will a hard though game for sure as our visitorsvdon't play with too much flair bar Messrs Beca and Hammond. Scott Pitt will be also one to keep an eye on as he was netted over 30 goals last season at the Clan. Discount him at your peril.
How about you?
