Welcome to another report on the Steelers as supplied by a Junior Member. Enjoy the read.
In the eyes of a Junior Member
this weekend was mildly frustrating. 2 points out of a possible 4, which is
becoming an all too regular occurrence, and will cost us the league.
On Friday
night the Steelers travelled to Braehead, who were certainly not meeting
expectations themselves, which is what made the Steelers come out of game
victorious. Scotland is always a hard place to go, and getting back to England
the same night, having a day of rest before the game on Sunday should’ve put
the Steelers to advantage over the Belfast Giants, however it went on to prove
to make no difference.
The game opened with the giants taking a one goal lead. A crisp shot beat Mustukovs to
give the Northern Irish side a one goal advantage. However the Steelers
responded well with Colton Fretter, seemingly a Giants favourite, levelling the scoring
later in the period. The game from a fans perspective seemed to be played at a
half pace, and certainly not what is expected of the Steelers which is for me
what contributed to this loss. Both sides cancelling each other out made for
quite a boring game at the arena.
What
didn’t help was the giants extending their lead to three goals to one, a tap in
and an excellent breakaway goal contributed to the scoreline. The
Steelers gave themselves a lifeline late into the third period, with a 6 on 4
chance at one stage, but it proved too little too late and the Giants took the
points in Sheffield once more. Another thing that seems to be happening all too
often.
Steelers now have 4 points out of a possible 18 in their conference, however we
hope to see a change in that as we get closer to the end of the season.
