Christmas Preview: Double Header vs The Unwashed

One win in 4. No away win in December. Only two 4-point weekends all season. There's a multitude of stats that say that something is wrong in Sheffield, but we don't need it on paper. We can see it with our own eyes. So what do we need to reboost the confidence and get a winning run going? The festive Home/Away with the Panthers? Well of course....

Team News
All three of the 'day-to-day' absentees - Robert Dowd, Dustin Kohn and Jeff Legue - returned to the lineup last weekend, and inspired us to a 4-3 televised win. Less said about Sunday's uninspiring scoreline the better...

Its only been a few days since news was sent out saying Max Lacroix had skated. While I imagine it will still be some time before he plays, there have been enough rumblings to give it a bit of credibility. I guess we'll find out Thursday.

One other item to look out for is the status of Rob Sirianni. After Val Pusteria's approach, which the Steelers rebuffed, there is the possibility that Sirianni handed in his two weeks' notice. While the club seemed to suggest that the score-on-wish forward is staying, two weeks from the date of potential request is Christmas Day. If he plays on Thursday, he's staying.

As for the filth, they are dropping like flies. Injuries to import D, starting netminders, forwards, fans, stewards, merch sellers, 50/50 sellers, tram operators, traffic controllers, KFC cooks...anyone with a slight affiliation to them lot seems to have an injury. There shouldn't be a better time to play them. Except we've not done well against under-strength teams this year.

Predictons
We are not going to see another 9-4. That was a special moment in time that we will not see the likes of again for some time, as much as we may wish it. We will certainly not achieve it this season. The Christmas games are known for being feisty, passionate adverts for British ice hockey. Lets hope that someone has informed DC and the team. Give us something to cheer for.

At home, I see us doing the job. Not particularly convincingly, but I reckon we'll do the job - Sheffield 5-4 Nottingham

In Beirut, about the only thing going for us is that the second part of the double header isn't on a Sunday. The game is live on Premier Sports (handy for those of us who don't have a ticket for the sold out clash). We are currently unbeaten on Premier Sports. Will that continue?....no. Nottingham 4-1 Sheffield
