Game Preview - Vs Belfast (EC, 18/1//14)

Before we go any further with this today, I want to send out support and condolences from the team to Randy Dagenais and his family at this terrible time.

To show support, our idea (which seems to have garnered a little bit of support) is for a show of appreciation for Randy. At the 12th minute (matching with his old squad number), we want everyone to stand up in the Motorpoint Arena and give him a round of applause for a minute, to show that the Steeler family truly is a family, and that we are fully behind him. Chris Frank said in our interview that he understands the "once a Steeler, always a Steeler" mantra and tomorrow we have a chance to show that and get behind Randy. Please, show your support for a great servant to the club.

***Since writing this, the club have asked for a minute's silence prior to the game, and for the standing to be observed. Great move Steelers***

So after that, we have a game going on.

Belfast
Many have said that if injuries had not ravaged both us and Nottingham, Belfast would not be as far ahead as they are. Personally, I still think they'd be the team to beat. Simply, they have quality throughout and will be hard to stop. However, we are on a roll, especially at home.

There are no new injury worries. Geoff Woolhouse has been ruled out for the rest of the season, but as Frank Doyle has played almost every minute this season, I don't see this being a major concern. The main question is who does Max Lacroix replace? Will we need the physical presence of Tim Spencer? The cunning guile of Rob Sirianni? The playmaking of Nate Dicasmirro? I'm unsure. Personally, I'd be tempted to drop Drew Fata and put Spencer on D, but each to their own.

Prediction
Tomorrow is going to be an emotional night in the Fortress of Steel (copyright Tom Duroe), and hopefully that leads to a high-octane, high-energy, high-quality match. Aaron Murphy is in town with the Premier Sports boys, so hopefully we can put on a show. Can we stop the Giants steamroller? Yes, we can. Will we?

Yes.
