Fans Of Steel: Mark Duell

Recently, we announced our line-up for the 2014/15 season, welcoming new writers into the fold.

Well, how better to get to know them than for them to take part in the Fans of Steel feature?

In this edition, we welcome "Mr Hockey" Mark Duell to the team.

Name: Mark Duell
Age: 42
Twitter Handle: @hockeybhoy
Hometown: Hartlepool, moved to Sheffield aged 16.
Usual Seat: Block 215, Row A, Seat 18
NHL Team: New Jersey Devils, first hero being Scott Stevens and after he retired I became a big fan of Martin Brodeur and still am.

First Started Watching The Steelers: Year One, 1991. (First watched hockey in the 80s in Billingham which was the nearest rink around)

All Time Favourite Player: Ooh that's a hard call to make. Probably have to say my first hero of Steve Nemeth; but that was a hard question.

Current Squad Favourite Player: Have to say Robert Dowd, if I don't do then I risk getting an evil look off me Mam who is a huge Dowdy fan - and we sponsored his away shirt in the 2011 Championship winning season. Plus him and his family are brilliant people, they were always asking about Mam whilst she was in hospital recently.

All Time Steelers Starting Six:  Bronsard (just over Jody) - Vial, Sarich  - Talbot, Priestlay, Nemeth.

One Player You Would Sign, Money No Object: Jonathan Toews of the 'Hawks to be honest. Brings everything to the team and is a terrific captain. He's more consistent than Crosby.

Best Game Attended: Probably when we beat the Panthers 10-1 in 1999, just 5 days having being humbled 10-2 at Bracknell which culminated in the sacking of Don McKee.

Worst Game Attended: Maybe when Cardiff crushed us 7-1 at home in 2011, everything just went wrong that night. In the words of then player-coach Ben Simon: "We stunk the place out." - he wasn't wrong!

One Change You Would Make To The On-Ice Product: Stop taking our time on PP, it's annoying. Get shots on goal, if an opponent gets injured blocking a shot then that's part of the game. Just be more effective on the PP, it's one of our weaknesses at the moment.

One Change To The Off Ice Product: Reduce the music in game breaks, just encourage the fans to make some noise. Saves us from hearing the droning voice of Simmsey (oops, I shouldn't have said that really)

Who Will Win The Silverware This Year?: Belfast will be tough to beat again, especially with retaining their core from last season but last year's play-off Final proves we can do it. So I'd like to think we have a good chance as anyone with the new look team G is building. Wouldn't be surprised if the silverware is shared around again with Clan as dark horses.
