FSB Charity Appeal 14/15: Liam's Beardathon For Team George

I know you're all donating toward Forum Allstars at the minute, and have been donating to the Weston Park appeal too, but this is something that is going to last the course of the season and doesn't demand your instant attention.

The following is copy and pasted from my appeal page. Thank you for reading:

Hello all, I'll try to keep this brief.

My intention is to grow my beard throughout the entire hockey season, from the opening game on Saturday 6th September, til the end of the regular season on Saturday 21st March, while not shaving inbetween. Both the opening and closing shaves will take place in Sheffield and will be filmed for broadcast on episodes of FSB's webshow "The Furnace".

I am raising money for the Team George appeal. If you're not aware of this, have a look at this link.

I first became aware of George Johnson when he was a mascot for Sunderland at Everton, and became our good luck mascot on the run to Wembley.

George has a very rare motility condition which means he can not feed, drink or swallow and is surviving off being fed directly through his heart. He has spent the vast majority of his life in and out of Great Ormond Street hospital.

His family were aiming to raise £15,000 to be able to get him to the USA to see a specialist. This target has been met, but fundraising continues as if he is eligible for treatment, the costs required will get higher and higher.

His outlook on life, for all that he's got against him, is something we should all aspire to, as you never see him not smiling.

Any donation, no matter how big or small, is hugely appreciated and all donations will go towards the Team George appeal.

I will be posting regular updates on both the FSB twitter feed and on the FSB Facebook page, to keep up with progress.

Thank you in advance.

So there we are. That's what I'm doing. I know there's still a recession, and you're all donating for other things at the minute, but any small amount over the course of the season would be hugely appreciated.

You can find my donation page here: http://www.gofundme.com/bu1c8s

Thanks all
