Cullen Eddy - 26/09/14

Quick Editor's Note: Cullen's had a really busy week, with lots of personal stuff to sort out, so a big thank you to him for taking the time out to write for us.

Its been about a month since I have arrived in Sheffield, and things are starting to become customary each and everyday. Driving on the left side of the road, using the stick shift and playing on the big ice.

After 3 weeks of regular season play we have found ourselves as one of the top teams to beat. We have played many different teams and have had many different types of game. The weekend was a big test for us, and after the weekend the team was pleasantly happy with the performances up and down the roster.

Heading into Saturday's game I had heard a lot about Nottingham and the type of team they are, as well as the atmosphere the fans in the rink bring. I really enjoyed the atmosphere from both sides of the fans. Nottingham fans were loud and full of enthusiasm as were the fans that travelled down from Sheffield.

The game was also just as exciting, back and forth hockey from the start to the finish. It was disappointing we were unable to come out with a victory but playing half the game shorthanded is extremely hard to get 2 points. It was good to see what they are going to bring this year, because I believe the next couple of meetings we will be able to come out with some more points.

Heading back to Sheffield after the game, we were forgetting about the the loss that we had just incurred and were getting ready for the match against Belfast - which was going to be an important one, a rematch of last years championship game. From the start of the game it seemed like we were doing a lot of things right. The fan support was there as well and we felt like we were firing on all cylinders.

With getting a win against Belfast it proved that not only can we beat he teams in the bottom of the league but we are going to be able to beat the teams that are in our category as well.

Heading into this weekend the boys are fired up because of the banner raising ceremony, and also its the first game in our arena which will be a lot of fun - after getting a couple of practices I can tell its going to have the same atmosphere that the Nottingham building brings, but with one thing even better, the fans are going to be all over the place supporting us.

Keep up the good work and we will keep providing you with good hockey.

Thus far you guys have proven that you are the best fans in the EIHL.
