Weekend Preview - Cardiff (ARENA OMG), Coventry (a)

This weekend sees the Steelers begin a run of 6 successive Challenge Cup games, where it will complete our group stage fixtures and hopefully see us safely through to the next round.

No chicken-counting on Frozen Steel though, and each game needs to be taken seriously.

Oh aye, we're coming home too.

Steelers Team News
This weekend should finally see the competitive debut of Tyler Mosienko, with the completion of his 5 game IIHF ban. He replaces Devin Didiomete, who has gone home despite a collective plea from Steelers fans to stay...did I just make that up?

Rod Sarich will be absent, after breaking his femur blocking a shot on Sunday. Big shame, as it was a vastly improved Roddy that we had seen up to now.

Saturday 27th September 2014, vs Cardiff Devils
Saturday, I'm sorry but we could be playing anybody, its more about the emotional return to the Motorpoint now that our ice problems are now sorted. Its not on a Coventry-back-to-the-Ricoh emotional, but it's been a long month.

Devils
The Devils have made a good start, returning the BBT to fortress levels once again (except for our win there). However, they haven't travelled well, losing to Nottingham and Edinburgh on the road.

Doug Clarkson could be a doubt after doing some damage to his hands last weekend. Other than that, I believe they have a full roster to choose from, which means a return to Sheffield for Ben Bowns, for the first time since he traded the MVV for the BBT.

Coverage
Steelers webcast, £8. Failing that, live twitter updates from our main man @TomWalkeden, as well as the arena debut of @FrozenSteelMNL.

Prediction
Let's play the game rather than the occasion please chaps.
Steelers 4-1 Devils

Sunday 28th September 2014, @ Coventry Blaze
Sunday sees us make our first competitive visit to the Skydome this season, and we take on a Blazing Coventry side, who look a different outfit to last season's strugglers. Indeed, they too have a home fortress, only losing in the BBT.

Blaze
Rory Rawlyk could be missing for the Blaze, after sitting out last weekend due to a blocking a puck the week before and his leg was in a hell of a state. Steven Goertzen will be in the side, waiting to welcome back his team from last year.

Prediction
They're good at home. It's a cup game.
Blaze 3-2 Steelers (AOT)
