Weekend Preview 13+14/9/14

After opening their Challenge Cup campaign with a win at Cardiff, the Steelers turn their attention to the meat and veg, and begin their pursuit of the Elite League.

We start this by swapping hosting privileges with the Fife Flyers.

Fife Flyers
The Flyers were the surprise package of the second half of last season, beating anyone and everyone on their way to the Playoff semi final, losing out in a tight 1-0 loss to Belfast. Many of last season's faces have returned, and much is expected of this Flyers side, but an opening weekend double-defeat to Coventry has put a dent in their ambitions.

Team News
No new injury worries for the Steelers this week. Jonathan Phillips continues his rehab but this weekend will likely come too soon for him. Luke Ferrara will be with Peterborough, and Devin Didiomete continues in place of the suspended Tyler Mosienko - he'll be back on the 27th against Cardiff. Geoff Woolhouse was unexpectedly dressed last weekend, so expect that to continue.

Flyers nettie Kevin Regan is carrying a slight injury, but that didn't stop him playing last weekend against Coventry.

Predictions
The obvious answer would be to say home wins in both games, but I think if we keep tight at the back we have every chance of claiming all 4 points this weekend. Granted, Sunday is at Ice Sheffield, but then its all the boys know at the minute.

Saturday: Fife 0-2 Sheffield
Sunday Sheffield 4-1 Fife

How To Get There
Going to Fife this Saturday? Bless your heart. Put KY1 3HS into your sat navs, Google says it will take you about 5 hours. Essentially, get to the M6, head for Glasgow, get on the M8 for Edinburgh, then get over the Forth bridge. On the way back you'll be diverted as there's a bridge closure. Tickets are priced £16 adults, £11 concessions, and £9 children.

Coverage
There's no webcast from Fife on Saturday, so if you're not going to the game, may I suggest you follow Laura Duff on Twitter, @hockey_laura. The club's own feed @FifeFlyers also do goal updates.

On Sunday, if you're not part of the sold out crowd at Ice Sheffield, you can buy the webcast for £8 at www.sheffieldsteelers.tv. Failing that, get yourself following @TomWalkeden and @FrozenSteelMNL who will be doing live updates.
