Midweek Preview - Steelers vs Capitals (EL) (22/10/14)

Humpday hockey at iceSheffield tonight, as we play our first game of the season against the all new Edinburgh Capitals.

It's been an interesting start to the season for my second team - the performances have certainly improved, but results have been, shall we say, mixed.

They'll be looking to make a name for themselves by taking the scalp of the Steelers, who in turn will be looking to put to bed any niggling doubts that may exist after sufferering their first Elite League loss at the weekend.

The game comes too early for Pascal Morency - he skated for the first time in weeks on Tuesday, but will not be considered this week. Robert Dowd is not expected to be back, still troubled by his wrist injury.

Luke Ferrara should be available to play as there is no Phantoms game tonight, while Ben O'Connor continues with the Steelers as he weighs up his options about his future.

Likely Lineup:
Netminders:
Frank Doyle, Geoff Woolhouse

Defencemen:
Gord Baldwin, Cullen Eddy, Rod Sarich, Dustin Kohn, Mark Thomas, Darrell Hay, Ben O'Connor

Forwards:
Mike Forney, Mathieu Roy, Jason Hewitt, Jay Latulippe, Jonathan Phillips, Tyler Mosienko, Phil Hill, Luke Ferrara, Colton Fretter

Like I said, a mixed bag for the Caps. They're competitive this year, they're making a good show of themselves, but results are somewhat indifferent. It's good to see them giving it a good go though.

The Capitals were missing James Wallace, David Beatson, Joe Grimaldi and Sean Beattie in their loss to Nottingham last night, and they are expected to be absent tonight.

One To Watch: Rene Jarolin
He knows where the goal is. While they have scoring all around their team this year, Jarolin is the main sniper. If we keep him quiet, that's half the battle won.

Anything less than a convincing win tonight is not good enough, I'm afraid.
