Weekend Preview - Blaze (H) Stingrays (A) CC Wrapup Weekend

This weekend sees the Steelers complete their Challenge Cup group stage fixtures, and while qualification is all but assured, at least two points from the weekend would be nice just to see us safe.

Saturday sees the return of Steven Goertzen (along with Ashley Tait and Marc Lefebvre) to the arena for the first time since setting up the winner for Drew Fata in the Playoff final, while Sunday sees us travel to the Most Versatile Venue for the return game from Wednesday night.

Steelers Team News
As of writing, we are still unsure on the status of Mark Thomas, who went off early in the game on Wednesday with a wrist injury. The Star says he is doubtful, so we shall wait and see on that one.

We may not be with 4 D this weekend though, as Rod Sarich could return to the lineup after his thigh injury.

The club confirmed today that Robert Dowd and Pascal Morency will not play this weekend, as they are still day to day with their problems - Dowd is also out with a wrist problem, while Morency is still showing symptoms of a concussion.

Luke Ferrara plays on Saturday following his man of the match performance against Hull, but is not expected to make the trip up the M18, although G may ask Peterborough nicely again.

Coventry Blaze - Saturday - Motorpoint Arena
Coventry could be missing Mike Egener, who was absent in the Blaze's game last Sunday against Braehead. Other than that, no other concerns in that department.

After we seemed to snap their good start, we know the Blaze are beatable. Brian Stewart won't have the "dodgy moorings" of the Skydome to blame, so we may see how good a keeper he really is, especially if the top two lines are on fire.

Prediction
Let the good times roll. Let's keep this momentum going.
Steelers 5-2 Blaze

Coverage

As per, Steelers TV Live will be airing for £8 from sheffieldsteelers.tv, but if that doesn't appeal and for some reason you enjoy Twitter Hockey (you sadistic creatures) get @TomWalkeden and @FrozenSteelMNL followed for live updates from the Motorpoint.

Hull Stingrays - Sunday - Hull Ice Arena
Sunday sees the boys travel to the MVV, where Hull don't seem able to play. Matt Larke got up and carried on after being crushed by Colton Fretter on Wednesday, so expect the Stingrays to be at full strength.

It does appear that the Rays don't seem to be able to match their road efforts on their own ice, so we SHOULD win. Should being the operative word. Never discount a Hull side though. It may be a different team but the Stingrays were the only team to record a win over us under G last season on the way to the Playoff title.

Prediction
Should win, shouldn't we?
Stingrays 2-4 Steelers

Coverage

Both Tom and Alan are making the trip this weekend, so live coverage will come from @TomWalkeden and @FrozenSteelMNL. I'll be watching on the webcast (http://www.hullstingrays.net/live.php) which is hosted by our own Jonathan Fearnley.
