SIHA - Midweek Report and Weekend Fixtures

Ice and Slice reports back on the Rapiers 16's A's game against Sutton Sting 16s.

Midweek action down at Ice Sheffield saw Sheffield Rapiers 16's A put in a gritty performance to overcome a spirited and hard working Sutton Sting.

Rapiers always held the upper hand after controlling most of the first period, which was reflective of the 3-0 score line at the first period break thanks to a couple of Liam Kirk goals that sandwiched a fine goal from Kyle Watson.

Sutton started the second period with a bit more zest and their efforts were rewarded when Apsley scored a nice goal to pull one back. Things seemed to swing their way when they were on a 5 minute powerplay but Rapiers responded to hit two short handed goals. Peter Toth made space to create his chance which he put away with confidence followed by another good goal from Liam Kirk to claim his hat-trick and make the score 5-1 to Rapiers.

The final period was a little scrappy at times, possibly the result of some over fussy officiating but despite Sutton's best efforts Rapiers held firm and had it not been for Lewis King in Sting's goal they could have had more to show than Ethan Hardy's goal which made the score, which was the final score...

Sheffield Rapiers 16's A 6 Sutton Sting 16's 1.
