Weekend Preview - Giants (h) Clan (h)

Were back home for a double header at the Motorpoint Arena to take on the champions the Belfast Giants on Saturday and the current league leaders the Braehead Clan.

Sheffield will be as they were last week obviously with the departure of Pascal Morency we are still waiting for his replacement to come in the latest update was that a contract has been offered to a player but unless the contract is signed and he’s on a plane now for it to be announced tomorrow I highly doubt the new player will be here in time for this weekends but possibly for the three game weekend next week. I expect Luke Ferrara to be with Peterborough as well this weekend and the only doubt is Gord Baldwin who picked up an injury in Nottingham last weekend and I believe he will be a game time decision as there has been no announcement.

Belfast Giants
The first game of our double header at the Arena and firstly we take on the Belfast Giants who ran away with the league last year but are facing tough tests in the early stages of this season. Belfast are without goaltender Stephen Murphy who is out long term, and forwards Mike Kompon and Mark McCutcheon are still out injured but Giants have brought in Canadian Carsen Chubak as cover for Murphy so it will be strange to see a Belfast team without Murphy but I’m sure Chubak is more than up for the challenge and it will be an interesting game for tomorrow.

Braehead Clan 
(Available/Injured Players etc.)League Leaders Braehead Clan come to town and bring with them a few ex Steelers and returning for the first time is last year’s fan favourite Stefan Meyer who has already scored 22 points (14+8) in 20 appearances so far this season. Braehead are at full strength and have no one out injured and bring with them a goaltender in good form in Kyle Jones who has 5 shutouts in 21 appearances. This is Braehead’s first visit to the arena this year last year they won both their visits just as Sheffield won both of their visits in Glasgow so not doubt Sundays game will be on not to be miss.
