First piece of silverware of the season up for grabs and the game was between the Steelers and the Devils it was a fairly even first period with both Ben Bowns and Josh Unice playing outstanding as both teams seemed to be playing with some nerves not wanting to give up the first goal or make a mistake. It was all square at the end of the 1st period but Jeff Legue gifted the Devils with a penalty with a pointless spear which was called as a slash which would force the Steelers to start the 2nd on the penalty kill.
End of the 1st Period: Sheffield Steelers 0–0 Cardiff Devils

In the 2nd Period Cardiff started on the power play and would make it count at 21:07 Andrew Lord found himself in possession of the puck in front of goal and managed to find the shooting lane before firing low down past Josh Unice to give Cardiff a 1-0 lead. It wouldn’t take long to make it 2-0 when at 22:55 Devils fired the puck around Unice’s goal before Trevor Hendrikx fired a one timer from the blue line for Chris Culligan to tip it under the arm of Josh Unice a goal the Steelers netminder will definitely want back. It could have been 3-0 Joey Haddad found himself with plenty of time and space in front of goal but Unice made a big body save to deny him. Steelers tried pushing hard but Ben Bowns just didn’t look like he was going to beaten and he helped his team take a 2-0 lead into the 2nd interval.
End of the 2nd Period: Sheffield Steelers 0–2 Cardiff Devils

Into the third period and the Steelers came out with somewhat something to prove and they was throwing everything at Ben Bowns and Cardiff but the Devils weren’t letting them through easy and made it difficult for the Steelers to break them down it took until 52:38 for the Steelers to break the shut out with Devils just managing to kill a penalty off the draw Cullen Eddy had the puck on the blue line and he fired a wicked slap shot through traffic that beat Bowns glove side to bring the Steelers within one goal. Sheffield pulled Unice with the clock ticking down for the extra attacker they took their time-out but Cardiff stood strong and held on to win the 2015 Challenge Cup 2-1.
