So on Saturday night, the Steelers take the short excursion down the M1 and the Lace City. It's our first visit down to the NIC to take on the Panthers. This game is the Steelers penultimate Challenge Cup qualifiers which currently they stand at the top of. A win will more than likely seal the deal as regards the top seed in Group B.
Can they do it?
Last Result: Our final visit to the NIC saw us win 4-3 in overtime, thanks to Johnny On The Spot himself: Mathieu Roy. With Evan Mosey in the box in the box at 64:31 for tripping, and be fair it was a clear trip, Steelers called a convenient time out. Plans were formulated in those 30 seconds, and from the face off on the PP - the puck was worked and Roy tucked it past Mathias Modig sending the away support into absolute delirium.
It virtually clinched the Monteith Bowl.
Is it possible again? Of course it is possible we can beat them in their own barn again, but one thing you have to do in the NIC is not switch off at all. Just the slightest lapse of concentration could cost you dear and especially against the Panthers. Corey (Neilson) will be smarting from the loss in the House Of Steel, and will have his players pumped up for Saturday especially in their own barn. We have suffered comprehensively in the last, wouldn't it be nice to dish out a beating to them there too - just for once?
Prediction: As stated before, Neilson will have Panthers really wound up for this game and we have to be prepared for a battle. I fear it could be another loss there, much as it pains me to say so. Panthers will win this one in regulation that I do see happening, and it won't be close either.
I'm going for the Dark Side to triumph 4-1.
