Big Match Preview - Edinburgh (Home)

Wednesday night hockey for the team in the en-suite bathroom known as Ice Sheffield, and a visit once more from a team that always seems to raise their game against us and the bigger fish in this season's Elite League campaign. Yes the Edinburgh Capitals are back in town and out to inflict more misery on us.

Twice we have played Riley Emmerson's men and twice we have been beaten, this is something that has to change. Sorry Caps fans but I apologise for saying that your team deserves a good hammering from us sooner rather than later. Why not on Wednesday night? It's the perfect chance to erase those two games previously, and inflict an absolute spanking on someone who has been our nemesis all season so far.

In both encounters, Capitals have jumped out to a three goal clear lead and left us chasing the game. As soon as we seem to get close, we find ourselves on the back foot as Capitals seem to have something about them that makes them nose back in front and like a dog with a bone: not relinquish it at all. We have taken just one point from four and quite frankly that's abject and unacceptable. Capitals fans and players must be whetting the lips of excitement at the prospect that they could seriously damage any title dreams with another road win.

This simply has got to stop, nothing less than a comprehensive home win is required.

Tear into the Capitals from the drop of the first puck and show them who is boss. Fire shots on Chubak constantly from all angles, and don't let up whilst staying focused in our own zone when they manage their forays forward. They have conceded the most goals this season which shows the defence is prone to leaking goals alarmingly, exactly 100 goals conceded in 23 league games and if you take their 8 Challenge Cup group games into account too - that figure rises to 130! Chubak is letting in over 4 a game and this is where we must take advantage.

We have the firepower, it's about time the heavy artillery was unloaded and primed to shoot on sight.

Of course we will have to do this without Chris Lawrence who was released and re-joined the Dark Side on another short term injury cover contract whilst Brad Moran and Stephen Schultz are both ruled out. It opens the door for others to really show what they are made of. Come on lads, give us a performance to be proud of at home and let's bury this Edinburgh hoodoo!
