Last week was a disaster, it was like we had hit an iceberg. Can we improve on that? We know it has to be better. Here's how we feel this weekend's games are going to pan out.
Saturday night:
Braehead Clan v Fife Flyers
Braehead are in need of wins, Flyers are full of confidence after two wins (both with shutouts) this weekend just gone. Many time Flyers have upset the Clan apple cart, Braehead can't afford this to continue. Verdict: Clan regulation win.
Coventry Blaze v Belfast Giants
Blaze will be unhappy with themselves that they didn't have a maximum week, especially after that great win in IAW on the Saturday. Giants on the other hand, will be hoping that both DJ Rutherford and Alex Foster will be back soon to bolster their options. Verdict: Blaze in overtime.
Manchester Storm v Edinburgh Capitals
This is going to be an acid test if there ever was going to be one, Capitals first venture over the border. They have had a decent start to the season, but then again so have the Storm. It could be a close encounter and Taylor Dickin faces some old team-mates. Verdict: Storm regulation win.
Sunday night:
Nottingham Panthers v Belfast Giants
In recent times Giants have some success in the NIC but on the flip side; they have had some horror shows there. Panthers have had a good start to the season and when full of confidence, are tough to beat. McGrattan vs Nickerson could be a nice sideshow. Verdict: Panthers regulation win.
Edinburgh Capitals v Coventry Blaze
This has the potential in some respects to be a tough encounter. Capitals will be keen to get back to a home winning groove after being dismantled by the Clan last Sunday, Blaze on the other hand want to show what their true potential is like on the road. Verdict: Capitals in overtime.
Dundee Stars v Manchester Storm
Stars have been great in their Challenge Cup campaign so far but not so in the league. Storm are doing just fine and the new look team is certainly proving a hard nut to crack. Can Pacha get that all important road win or will Furby get his first league win of the season? Verdict: Storm in overtime.
Fife Flyers v Braehead Clan
When it comes to playing in "The Auld Barn", Clan have an unwanted record. Many a time they have gone there and many times they have come unstuck. It's like the Flyers have the proverbial Indian sign over them. Can it continue or will Finner crack the Kirkcaldy curse? Verdict: Flyers regulation win.
So that's how I see the weekend ahead? Over to you if you think any better.
