After what has to be said, and brutally honest too, a East Coast 'eadache where we managed to scrape two points out of four - it's another weekend of action which in the long run could determine our season destiny. Let's now have a look ahead then.
Saturday night, and we're back on home ice. Visiting us are these wonderful chaps:
Yes it's those wonderful bumpkins from down the M1, the Panthers. A Panthers side that has suffered two completely blank weekends since coming back from their Continental Cup exploits in Espanol. Things are not happy in Panthers world, and the Cage Forum is having a few meltdowns that's for sure. Players are being singled out and poor old Corey isn't safe from the criticism either. The inflatable "bear" has provided its own brand of amusement too. They will be hurting, and there's nothing worse than a wounded animal. We need to be on guard for this, and an off night will not be tolerated.
After Saturday night's home action, we're on the road again the following day to here:
Yes it's a return to Tayside - the scene of a horror showing just seven days prior. This cannot happen again else we could have a real damaging effect on the bid for the three-peat. Joe Fallon had probably the best game in his short Stars career so far against us, we need to solve this enigma as much as the behemoth Brian Stewart. Success has been with us in the past there, we can do it again. It's certainly not mission impossible. We just need to play that little bit better and take the chances when they are given.
This weekend should also see the return of the iconic Zack Fitzgerald to the blue line after his two game suspension; which will ease the workload on Messers Phillips, Björklund, Franzon and O'Connor who clocked up a ridiclous amount of ice time over the last two games. Offensive defenceman Mike Ratchuk is rumoured to return after illness and Swedish centre Andreas Valdix is also quoted by some to also return after missing the last three games with an unspecified injury. If all three are back, Steelers will have their full arsenal open to them - offensively and defensively: a massive boost.
Prediction: Steelers to send Panthers packing 6-2 on Saturday before getting revenge in Dundee on the Sunday with a 3-1 road win.
