Elite Report: Week 12 Preview

We had a decent, by our standards, week last week - so can we build on those blocks and continue the good form? It's week number twelve of the season, soon be reaching the halfway point. Let's cast our eyes on the games ahead.

Friday night:

Dundee Stars v Coventry Blaze: Friday night's other game sees two sides at the wrong end of the table, battling for points. Dundee are showing signs of improvement, and don't we know so, Blaze seem to have no consistency. Can Furby inflict more misery on his old team? Verdict: Stars regulation shine.

Saturday night:

Dundee Stars v Belfast Giants: Second game in as many nights for the Stars, and a tough assignment against a Giants team looking to haul in league leaders Cardiff. Either side is capable of beating the other one but it could be a closer encounter than what the table says. Verdict: Giants slay the Stars after overtime.

Manchester Storm v Braehead Clan: Another potentially difficult game for either side. Storm have been very good on home ice, pushing the "big" teams close. Clan are hoping for a road win against a fellow Gardiner Conference side and rise up the table. Verdict: Storm blown away in a shootout by Finner.

Fife Flyers v Coventry Blaze: The second of Blaze's Scottish triple header, and it doesn't get any easier than a visit to the "Auld Barn" in Kirkcaldy. Danny Stewart's return in other words. It could be another hard night for wee Danny. Verdict: Flyers soar but Blaze will take them to overtime.

Sunday night:

Manchester Storm v Fife Flyers: Two home games in as many nights for Pacha's men, and another potentially winnable game for them. Fife have had a good start but I really fancy Pach to have a smile on his face after this one finishes. Verdict: Crash for the Flyers as Storm win in regulation.

Cardiff Devils v Braehead Clan: After the Saturday off, Devils should be rejuvenated for the visit of the Clan. Clan are capable, don't get me wrong, of getting a result here but Lord's team seldom slip up at home. Unhappy return to the principality for Ryan. Verdict: A Devil-ishly nice regulation win.

Edinburgh Capitals v Coventry Blaze: Depending what the legs have in them, Coventry could snatch a win here or slip to another defeat. It's an unpredictable as it comes but Michal Dobron's Caps will be fully refreshed and ready to go. Verdict: Caps putting the Blaze out of their misery in overtime.

So those are my thoughts? How do you see them?
