The Junior Report - Edition 10

Welcome once more to an analysis of the latest Steelers home game from the Junior section of FSB. Enjoy the read.

Another frustrating weekend it was to be for the Steelers, coming out with 0 points, from two semi challenging games.

As always I summarise the game the night before in a small paragraph, and after this performance, it’s a kind of good job it is small. The first of the two weekend games was from Cardiff bay. A poor show saw the Steelers beaten by four goals to one away from home, again dropping points against our conference rivals. Again becoming an all too regular occurrence for our side. A slow start cost us that game, however from what I am told, a lack of energy also cost us.

The Steelers were looking to turn it round again the day after. The Steelers on home ice against a Fife side that have never had a great record against the Steelers, however they have now beaten us twice on two occasions. Taking four points from four off of us. Tonight was also teddy bear toss night, a great cause for children, however it does sometimes cause some disruption to the momentum. The thing is; we never really had any on a Sunday night in Sheffield.

The opening goal coming from Roy. With nifty work out in front, unassisted he beat the impressive Iles. This meant the teddy bear toss started, an impressive sight, but this would be the last thing that the Steelers fans would cheer for 50 more minutes. The second period started with an excellent chance for the Steelers, going on a 5 on 3 powerplay, however they failed to convert. One team who did convert were the Fife Flyers. They also had a five on three opportunity, and scored. Twice. Two quick fire goals saw the end for the Steelers, the second powerplay goal being the game winner.

After this you’d have thought it would spark the Steelers into life. Sadly that was not to be the case. The Steelers fans went a full 50 minutes without really having to get excited about anything. Then Fife killed the game with around 50 seconds to go with an empty netter, which plainly rubbed proverbial salt in the wounds and also made around 2000 of the 4000 in attendance get up and get out as quick as possible. At the end of the game, there were very loud boos for head coach Paul Thompson as suggested on Twitter. I will not say anything regarding this matter.

The Steelers lost the game by three goals to one.
