You heard me. Pack it in.
At least once a year, something happens to do with our club that leaves us looking like the class clowns of the EIHL.
Either through fault of the club, its officials, or even us the fans, the Steelers somehow always ending up as a laughing stock. Be that conducting contract talks in the press, making comments about match officials on local radio, or, such is the case as last night, Shirtgate.

Scims All Stars - A Preview
I will fully admit to being a bit clueless when it comes to UK teams outside the EIHL, but two of the teams I'm mostly familiar with are the Sheffield Steeldogs, and their predecessors the Scimitars.
This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Scimitars completing the grand slam at their level, and to mark the occasion, an All-Star team of past Scimitars players will take on the current Steeldogs side.
We spoke to friend of the blog, ex-Steeler and current Steeldogs player Tom Squires, about what exactly is going down.

Frozen Steel Meets: Chris Ellis

Frozen Steel Meets
As I've said before, we are an equal opportunities blog, and don't just cover the Steelers. I like to think we look around the league and welcome all-comers to the site.
Well we've certainly covered that with this. General UK hockey media good egg Chris Ellis was kind enough to give us some time to discuss his work with the EIHL and Ice Hockey UK, as well as his views on our beautiful game.

Mark Duell: Thank Heavens For Small Mercies

Opinion Article
Blog writer, and pretty much keeping us going during the summer, Mark Duell returns with his views on the latest to come out of Cardiff.
WITH the news coming out today about the non-payment of outstanding wages in Cardiff becoming public knowledge courtesy of Dan LaCosta, one can start to think of what more troubles are going to happen in deepest South Wales.
This I fear is the tip of the iceberg and more things are going to emerge in the next few weeks as things start to unravel.

Could We Have An Actual Preseason Please?

Sheffield Steelers
Maybe this is the football fan in me coming out, but it looks to me as if we have next to no preseason. I'm used to teams going on several away days to practice tactics and gain fitness. So the Steelers' preseason looks very bare to me.
A game against the Coventry Blaze is, to date, our only preseason "friendly" exhibition game. Not much of an opportunity for the team to gel. I know there's a couple of weeks where the team can be on the ice and learn systems in Sheffield, but you cannot beat genuine in-game ice time for chemistry building and overall physical conditioning.
For this, I'm hoping we're going to announce some more games. If management are struggling for ideas, here's a few suggestions for them.

Wind Of Change Or Just Flatulence?

In the last few days, it has been put beyond doubt that Bob Westerdale only writes what he is told by the Sheffield Steelers. Were this not the case, today's story would likely have been taken down for defamation of character.
Have a read of this and come back to me:
