Elite Report: Week 2 Preview (Part Two)

In the first part of the preview, we looked ahead to the games being played on Friday and Saturday night. Now it's time to turn out our attentions to the games being played Sunday evening whilst the Steelers are in CHL action against EC Red Bull Salzburg.

Sunday 11 September 2016: Edinburgh Capitals v Dundee Stars (CC)

Just what is going on at Edinburgh already, there's always something happening. Their new starting goalie, Travis Fullerton, has been delayed due to apparent visa issues. I bet both Scott Neil and new player-coach Michal Dobron are like scratching their heads. Dundee should win this comfortably, and that's no disrespect to the guy in the Caps cage. It's got away win written all over it.

Verdict: Dundee regulation win.

Cardiff Devils v Braehead Clan (EIHL)

What an away game for the Clan to start with, against a team that many think could go on and win this season's title. It all depends for me which Clan team turn up, the one that can beat anyone on their day or the one that just literally freeze on occasions. Finnerty would love to get an early win against his old club and it's not beyond the realms of possibility. Devils might just have enough to get home.

Verdict: Cardiff win after overtime.

Coventry Blaze v Belfast Giants (EIHL)

It's been a positive beginning for Danny Stewart at Coventry, even if they have been just exhibition games. Yet if players are seemingly buying into your systems and plans already, you have to feel confident. This has the possibility of being a real battle and neither team would like to have a loss on their record already. But someone's going to lose here...obviously!

Verdict: Coventry regulation win.

Fife Flyers v Nottingham Panthers (EIHL)

The big question will be how much do either side have left in the tank for respective reasons. Fife are coming back from an arduous trip to Belfast whilst Corey Neilson's Panthers are playing their third game in as many nights. It all depends which team has the energy levels and it could be a real strength sapper in the Auld Barn. Flyers support to carry them home to a win methinks.

Verdict: Fife regulation win.

And that's the weekend for you. Will I get all my predictions right? Time will tell...
