Time once again to preview the upcoming action in the Elite League, it's week number six. There's a combination of both the EIHL and the Challenge Cup to look forward to. Last week we didn't do too bad to be honest, here's hoping for more of the same or better still. Crystal ball, please tell us what you see...
Saturday night hockey first:
Cardiff Devils v Coventry Blaze
These two teams go ahead again and the match ups are usually either close or one team goes away and skate away with the honours. Blaze will fancy their chances whilst the Devils will want to get back to winning ways. Prediction: Devils regulation.
Nottingham Panthers v Dundee Stars
As much as everyone, bar the good folk of the Lace City that is, wants Marc LeFebvre and his Dundee Stars to come away with a point never mind two - it ain't gonna happen. This should be a routine home win for Corey's men. Prediction: Panthers regulation.
Belfast Giants v Braehead Clan
After what might have been a tough encounter on home ice against the Steelers 24 hours before, Clan go across the sea. They have had success there in the past, and Craig Peacock is against his old team. Should be interesting. Prediction: Giants after overtime.
Fife Flyers v Manchester Storm
Manchester fancy their chances against anyone, and going into the "Auld Barn" in Kirkcaldy will be no exception to be honest. However Fife are decent on home ice which could push this beyond 60. It should be a good one. Prediction: Storm regulation.
Now onto Sunday.
Coventry Blaze v Fife Flyers
Danny welcomes his old team back and will be looking to set the record straight after a 4-1 loss in Kirkcaldy the Saturday previous. Fife don't travel well as a rule of thumb and I don't think this will change one bit. Danny to be smiling at the end. Prediction: Blaze regulation.
Manchester Storm v Nottingham Panthers
13 goals were shared last Saturday in the NIC; with the Storm contributing five. The following night, Storm pushed the Steelers to penalties with an incredible three goal burst in the last five minutes. Corey needs to be tactically astute as Omar is prepared for a shock. Verdict: Panthers in overtime.
Edinburgh Capitals v Braehead Clan
Three games in three nights for Ryan Finnerty's men and what will be left in the tank come Sunday night. The last thing needed is a M8 derby against a Capitals side brimming with confidence on home ice. Capitals won a few week ago, can they repeat so? Prediction: Capitals in overtime.
Dundee Stars v Cardiff Devils
Cardiff potentially face a good examination of their squad on Sunday in Tayside. It is a place they have come unstuck in the past and if they want make a statement, away wins are oh so important. A potential shock could happen. Prediction: Stars in overtime.
So that's how I see it, probably hopelessly wrong before a puck gets dropped. How about you?
