Time once more to review how the predictions went in the tenth week of the season. Could we start to turn the corner and get an actual night's of predictions right? Read on dear reader, and find out..
Well it started off well didn't it? Cardiff arrived in the Scottish capital 24 hours before the Steelers and did what we expected them to do. A 4-1 road win was just the perfect start for us and for the Devils themselves. All the damage done in a blistering second period where Andrew Lord's men scored three without reply to knock the wind of the Caps' sails.
Saturday night and back to the inconsistency that has bugged us all season so far. Blaze decided to turn up and produce their best home showing of the season, defeating a Belfast team 4-1. Brian Stewart played, which surprised me considering he was supposedly out with concussion. If I had been concussed, no way would have I have been playing seven days later. My quack would not allow me too. Perhaps the Blaze allegedly added a bit of "jam" onto it to influence DOPS? But that's just me playing cynic.
In the other games, Cardiff scored a second win in as many nights but not in the regulation time we predicted. It took them to win a penalty shootout with Dundee to secure another two points. Perhaps the warning was there for us? We didn't get the result right in Manchester either, the Storm edging past the Panthers 4-3 in regulation as opposed to the overtime which we went for. So as we entered Sunday night, it was a pathetic 1 from 4.
Sunday wasn't much better to be honest. Panthers continued their dip in form and completed a second successive zero point weekend by slipping to a 4-2 home loss to the Giants. To add irony to the result, Giants second goal was scored by Brandon Benedict, who spent 4 seasons as a Panther before re-joining the Northern Irish team in 2015-16 for a second spell. Blaze completed a much needed 4 point weekend when they shut out the Storm but we rejoiced when Fife's 4-0 home win against Cardiff meant we got a prediction right and ended the Devils hopes of having a maximum haul on their Scottish tour.
So therefore we ended the week with another abysmal haul, 2 out of a possible 7. Overall it makes the season record 27 out of 72, which is a .375 percentage record. That's a further drop of .10, are we ever going to get to the magic .500? Surely we are due some luck soon, this weekend maybe?
