Elite Report - Week 15 Review

Time once more to look back on another's week action. Despite what the EIHL might say, it certainly was the 15TH weekend of action: I've even got the calendar out and counted back to the start of the season which was on the 3rd and 4th of September. I'm sticking by what I believe and if anyone says anything more about, then I'll refuse to listen haha.

So how did our predicting go this weekend just gone? Could we improve on matters...

After garnering a win on Wednesday when Cardiff went to Dundee and won in regulation, we hoped we could make it two out of two when Clan entertained the Panthers in the first leg of their Challenge Cup quarter final first leg. It ended a draw so we were at a 50 per cent success rate going into the weekend that was. Let's see how that panned out.

On Saturday whilst Steelers were slipping to defeat in the Odyssey, we recorded a shocking 1 out of 4 in the predictions. The team that didn't let us down? Ryan Finnerty and his purple army, winning the M8 derby by the odd goal in five. Devils as every man and his dog knows got blown away by a Panthers side which had been so abject in the House Of Steel six days previous, whilst Manchester overcame Fife and Blaze beat Stars in regulation: as opposed to us wanting an overtime win.

So therefore not so good on the first part of the weekend. Did Sunday bring more cheer or was it more jeer? Well in fact it wasn't too bad as we got two out of four. Doing the business for us were the Caps as they dispatched Fife and Finner made it a four point weekend when Clan won by the odd goal in seven on Tayside. Panthers finally overcame Blaze after penalties when 65 minutes play had produced an astonishing ten goals whilst Matt Nickerson proved to be the unlikely hero as Belfast won in regulation at the Storm Shelter.

Therefore overall we ended up with four correct predictions out of a possible ten, and it could have been so much better than that. It takes the running tally to 43 out of 113 and marginally improves the percentage to .381! Next week's predictions will be with you soon.
