Elite Report - Week 20 Preview

After a disappointing week nineteen, we're looking to bounce back with more success in the twentieth weekend of action. After this, there's only the small matter of ten weeks left in the regular season. That's flown by quickly hasn't it? Anyway, let's look at this weekend's other games in the EIHL.

Saturday night, 14th January 2017:

Braehead Clan v Edinburgh Capitals: A M8 derby, and both teams wanting points for differing reasons. Despite being short benched, we still think Clan will have enough to see off the Caps in regulation.

Cardiff Devils v Belfast Giants: The top two in the table clash in a heavyweight clash at Ice Arena Wales. Both had two point weekends just gone and will want to put it right. Devils to edge what might a nervy contest, might go to overtime.

Fife Flyers v Dundee Stars: Stars need to find wins if they are to make the post-season bash, but they won't find it easy in "The Auld Barn". Teams find it hard to win there, and Flyers should have enough to see their visitors off in regulation.

Sunday night, 15th January 2017:

Dundee Stars v Belfast Giants: From one end of the British Isles to the other, those Belfast Giants certainly have a lot of travel on their plate. Saturday, Cardiff then Sunday on Tayside. They could slip up here, Stars in overtime shocker.

Edinburgh Capitals v Fife Flyers: Flyers could easily end up with another four point weekend which would help go a long way in the league standings against fellow Gardiner rival Edinburgh. However Caps are due a win, so we think they will...in regulation too!

Manchester Storm v Braehead Clan: Another Gardiner Conference battle, this time in the confines of the Storm Shelter. Can Clan overcome their injury woes and raid a crucial away win? It's possible, but Storm will win this in overtime.

So that's the EIHL predictions for another week? Do you agree with them or do you think different? Let us know. And for the Panthers fans who read the blog, we're sure some of you do, good luck in the Continental Cup "Super Final" over in Italy: just give a good account of yourself and don't run into penalty trouble. That's the key to your success.
