We had a much better week 22 than we had in the previous four weeks previous or so. Guess our predictions are a bit like the New Jersey Devils NHL season if you want to compare it, very much hit and miss. Yet miss seems more appropriate as we still haven't broken the 40% success mark.
How did we fare last week? Read on and find out..
Well it all started with a Challenge Cup semi-final to predict. We said it would be edgy and close; and it was but with plenty of goals between the two protagonists. Belfast edged it thanks to that late Jim Vandermeer PP strike so that starts us off with a blank.
Friday night, the basement battle between Dundee and Edinburgh. Caps obviously didn't look at the prediction made or they used as inspiration (well it's worked for Coventry before). Caps won after a shootout which means that's two out of two we've got wrong so far.
Saturday night hockey, could we improve? Er, how about no! Still not one successful prediction as every team we expected to win, did the absolute opposite. Direction finder definitely looking a bit off beam and proving that predicting a hockey game is a real test.
Sunday, surely some kind of redemption? Indeed as we got two out of three thanks to regulation wins by both Cardiff and Belfast. That could have been a rare clean sweep if the Bears had won up in Kirkcaldy after overtime instead of the home side doing just that. Still we finished on a high-ish note!
Well that wasn't the best of weeks, was it? Until Sunday it looked serious that we might fire blanks on each matchday but the top two teams in the country restored some kind of pride. We now move onto 68 out of a possible 186 which drops the percentage back down again to .366! Hoping for better success this week, but don't hold your proverbial horses.
