Lots and lots of hockey. That means lots and lots of predictions. The business end of the season is really starting to kick in and teams are jostling and battling for every point on offer. It also means that the FSB prediction machine, namely yours truly, has to go into overdrive.
Without further ado, let's look ahead to the week ahead.
Wednesday 8 February 2017:
Belfast Giants v Cardiff Devils: Second leg of the Challenge Cup semi-final. It will be as tight as the first. Wouldn't be surprised be if Belfast squeak it in overtime.
Braehead Clan v Manchester Storm: A Gardiner Conference battle and Clan to win it in regulation time; could be a close scoreline however.
Friday 10 February 2017:
Belfast Giants v Dundee Stars: Stars ran Steelers close last weekend despite being short-benched. However I don't see the Giants defence being as generous; home regulation win.
Saturday 11 February 2017:
Braehead Clan v Edinburgh Capitals: Tasty M8 derby in prospect at the Braehead Clan. Caps have already tasted victory there, but I expect Clan to take this but thanks to an overtime winner.
Coventry Blaze v Cardiff Devils: On their day Blaze could take down the Devils but the home defence is a bit porous and Devils have the offence to run riot. Devils in regulation for me.
Manchester Storm v Fife Flyers: Could be an exciting game this one, if you want to watch it as a neutral. Both teams are evenly matched, I'll take Flyers to win it in overtime though.
Sunday 12 February 2017:
Braehead Clan v Coventry Blaze: A game that could have a bearing on each other's finishing position. Clan might just squeak this in regulation.
Cardiff Devils v Nottingham Panthers: Panthers form has been a bit patchy since they came back from the sandwich tray win. They can win here but lose here too. Devils to record another regulation win.
Dundee Stars v Manchester Storm: Both need points for differing reasons, and it's Vinny Scarsella against his last season employers. Stars to get a much needed two points but will need overtime.
Fife Flyers v Belfast Giants: Potential banana skin for Derrick Walser and his title chasing Giants. Fife are hard to beat on home ice, very hard. Giants might edge this in regulation.
So that's how I see this week panning out, how about you?
