So then we had a very decent week in week number 27; scoring a 50 per cent success rate. However, could we continue in the same vein in the week that's just gone by? We all know full well, that would be brilliant so it would.
Only one way to discover then. Read on and find out...
It didn't start off too good though in the only other midweek game. Whilst the battered and bruised were being tended to, Manchester made the trip to Braehead in search of crucial points for that top eight finish. We predicted Clan to win, they did that. We predicted overtime, it was won in regulation time. Not the best of starts right?
So onto Friday, and could those pesky Bears from down the M1 do us a favour? Well they were overdue a road win, having not won away from home since 29 December 2016 when they defeated Coventry 4-2 at the Sky Dome. Yes and before you start - the sandwich tray trip to Italy doesn't count. However, they were as abysmal as ever: losing 7-3 in the "O".
Two games down, two losses. Much better but only just. Cardiff as expected won on home ice against Dundee and by all accounts from my Devils supporting buddy: it was done comfortably. Manchester shutout the Caps, despite an overtime win prediction from us and Fife, well were Fife and extinguished the Blaze on the Midlands side own ice.
Just one right on the Sunday too, so making a bad week overall. The good ones were the Giants who slew the Bears again and kept their title dreams a flickering away. Could have been two correct if Stars had won in overtime again the Storm and Caps completed a zero point weekend when Fife came to town and skated away with a maximum haul.
Therefore we had just a 25 per cent success rate, getting just two right out of a possible eight. Not as good as the week previous right? Overall, we now stand at 86 correct out of 227; or a percentage score which has dipped to .379 - that's not good. With just two weekends of the regular season to go, it looks nigh on impossible we will make the .400 level but who knows? Strange things have happened in hockey..
